Gun Fighter Gym | Mercury Human Performance

What is a Gun Fighter Gym?

Have you driven down Fitzhugh Road between Austin and Dripping Springs and seen the giant sign that says:

THE GUNFIGHTER GYM

If so, there’s a good chance your next thought was:

“What exactly is a Gunfighter Gym?”

Well, you found us.

The Gunfighter Gym is part of Mercury Human Performance, a human performance training facility built around one central idea:

How do you perform when the pressure goes up?

What Is the Gunfighter Gym?

The Gunfighter Gym is a training environment inside Mercury Human Performance that combines firearms training with cognitive performance, decision-making, emotional control and physical conditioning.

It is not a traditional shooting range.

Instead of standing in a lane and simply firing at a target, training at MHP challenges you to process information, move, make decisions and execute skills while your brain has more to deal with.

The goal is not just to become a better shooter.

The goal is to become better at performing under pressure.

How Is It Different From a Traditional Shooting Range?

Most firearms training starts with mechanics.

Grip. Stance. Trigger control. Accuracy.

Those things matter.

But once the fundamentals are established, another question becomes more important:

Can you still perform when the situation gets harder?

Inside MHP, we use synthetic shooting systems, projection technology and laser-based training platforms to create dynamic training scenarios.

That allows us to introduce movement, visual cues, memory, decision-making and cognitive load into the experience.

Instead of simply asking, “Can you hit the target?” we can ask:

Can you identify the right target?

Can you remember information while performing?

Can you make a decision quickly?

Can you stay composed when the pressure increases?

That is where firearms training becomes human performance training.

What Is Conflict Kinetics?

A big part of what makes the Gunfighter Gym different is the technology behind it.

Mercury Human Performance uses training systems developed by Conflict Kinetics, a human performance and synthetic marksmanship training company that created the Gunfighter Gym training concept.

Conflict Kinetics systems are designed to go beyond traditional target shooting by combining marksmanship with visual processing, reaction time, decision-making and cognitive performance. Their synthetic training environments also allow performance to be measured and tracked in real time.

At MHP, that technology gives us the ability to create training scenarios where you aren’t simply practicing how to shoot.

You’re learning to see faster, process information, make decisions and execute a skill while the demands of the environment increase.

That fits directly into what Mercury Human Performance is built around:

Training the person behind the skill.

Why Is It Called a Gunfighter Gym?

Think about how you use a traditional gym.

You don’t go once, learn how to lift a weight and consider yourself finished.

You train.

You identify weaknesses.

You increase difficulty.

You build capacity over time.

The Gunfighter Gym applies that same philosophy to shooting, cognition, movement and performance under stress.

We are not simply teaching a skill.

We are training your ability to execute that skill when conditions become more demanding.

What Is Mercury Human Performance?

Mercury Human Performance, or MHP, is a human performance training facility serving the Austin, Dripping Springs and Lakeway area.

Our training brings together several systems that influence performance:

Cognitive processing

Visual performance

Emotional control

Physical conditioning

Technical skill

We train these systems together because that is how performance works in the real world.

Important situations rarely happen when you are perfectly rested, completely calm and only responsible for doing one thing at a time.

Your brain is processing information.

Your body is responding.

Your emotions are changing.

And you still have to perform.

That is what we train.

Do I Need to Be an Experienced Shooter?

No.

You do not need to be military, law enforcement or an experienced shooter to train at Mercury Human Performance.

People come to MHP for different reasons.

Some want to improve their firearms skills.

Some want to become more confident and capable.

Some want to improve decision-making and stress response.

Others simply want to challenge themselves in a completely different training environment.

The common thread is that they want to understand how they perform when the pressure starts to increase.

How Can I Experience the Gunfighter Gym?

One of the easiest ways to understand Mercury Human Performance is to experience it for yourself.

Our Demo Day gives you an introduction to the facility, our training philosophy and some of the systems we use to challenge cognitive performance, shooting fundamentals and decision-making under pressure.

You can also train through private sessions, group experiences, Gunfighter programs and MHP memberships.

So if you’ve been driving down Fitzhugh Road, noticed the giant Gunfighter Gym sign and Googled it because you wanted to know what was inside:

You found us.

The Gunfighter Gym is Mercury Human Performance.

And it is built to help you perform when things get difficult.

Build skill. Train your brain. Perform under pressure.
